Caspase 3-7 Activity Assay

Data Sheet

Apoptosis, or programmed cell death, is a normal component of the development and health of multicellular organisms. Cells die in response to a variety of stimuli and during apoptosis they do so in a controlled, regulated fashion.

Although apoptosis is known as a normal event of the tissue homeostasis it is also involved in many diseases such as Alzheimer Disease, Parkinson, Dementia and different types of cancers. The protein which is the centre of the apoptotic pathway is the caspase 3. The different death signals converge in this point and continue down reaching the nucleus.

Assay Details

To evaluate the Caspase 3/7 activity, a fluorescent caspase 3/7 detection dye is used. The tested compounds are incubated with the cells and following the dye is added and measured in the automated fluorescent image platform (BD Pathway 855 High Content Bioimager). The fluorescent signal of tested compounds is compared with the control samples.
