Neural Excitotoxicity Assay

 A brief exposure to glutamate in vitro causes neuronal death, which makes glutamate a useful compound to evaluate neuroprotective capabilities of new drugs. This in vitro model offers the advantage of a rapid screening of the neuroprotective potential of a molecule.


Compound Testing


Human/Rat/Mouse primary neurons are treated with compounds to be tested in parallel with L-glutamate to evaluate their protective effects against excitotoxicity. After 24h treatment, different studies are performed to analyze the different stages of the cell death process and the possible recovery of damaged neurons.
