BB2 Bombesin Receptor Assay from Innoprot allows the measurement of BB2 Bombesin receptor activation by Calcium concentration increase in the cytosol.
BB2 Bombesin Receptor, a.k.a. gastrin-releasing peptide receptor (GRPR), is a G protein-coupled receptor whose endogenous ligand is gastrin releasing peptide (GRP). It appears in the pancreas and also in the stomach, adrenal cortex and brain. Gastrin-releasing peptide (GRP) regulates numerous functions of the gastrointestinal and central nervous systems; including release of gastrointestinal hormones, smooth muscle cell contraction, and epithelial cell proliferation. In CNS, Bombesin-like peptides induce satiety and play a role in thermoregulation and induce histamine-independent pruritus. It is also a potent mitogen for neoplastic tissues. BB2 Bombesin Receptor is aberrantly expressed in numerous cancers such as those of the lung, colon, and prostate.
