Calcitonin Receptor Assay from Innoprot allows to assay compounds, or analyze their capability to modulate CALCR. When a ligand binds to the CALCR, it activates a G protein, which in turn, triggers a cellular response mediated by both Calcium and cAMP. Our CALCR assay has been validated measuring both, cAMP & Calcium concentration changes in the cytosol upon activation with calcitonin. The high reproducibility of this assay allows monitoring CALCR activation process in High Throughput Screening.
The calcitonin receptor is a GPCR in the same group B sub-family that also includes the receptors for vasoactive intestinal peptide, secretin, and PTH and PTHrP. The protein plays an important role in maintaining calcium homeostasis and in regulating osteoclast-mediated bone resorption. Calcitonin Receptor is able to decrease blood calcium levels by both; direct inhibition of mediated bone resorption and also by enhancing calcium excretion by the kidney. HiTSeeker Calcitonin Receptor Cell Line from Innoprot allows the measurement of the activity and potency of ligands; such as calcitonin.
