BB2 Bombesin Receptor, previously called gastrin-releasing peptide receptor (GRPR), is a G protein-coupled receptor whose endogenous ligand is gastrin releasing peptide (GRP). It appears in the pancreas and also in the stomach, adrenal cortex and brain. Gastrin-releasing peptide (GRP) regulates numerous functions of the gastrointestinal and central nervous systems; including release of gastrointestinal hormones, smooth muscle cell contraction, and epithelial cell proliferation. In CNS, Bombesin-like peptides induce satiety and play a role in thermoregulation and induce histamine-independent pruritus. It is also a potent mitogen for neoplastic tissues. BB2 Bombesin Receptor is aberrantly expressed in numerous cancers such as those of the lung, colon, and prostate. HiTSeeker Cell lines proliferate in vitro maintaining GPCR expression following the cell culture manual.
Innoprot HiTSeeker BB2 Bombesin Receptor Cell Line allows to assay compounds, or analyze their capability to modulate BB2 receptor. When a ligand binds to the BB2 receptor, it activates a G protein, which in turn, triggers a cellular response mediated by calcium. HiTSeeker BB2 Receptor cell line has been validated measuring calcium concentration changes in the cytosol upon activation with GRP. The high reproducibility of this assay allows monitoring BB2 receptor activation process in High Throughput Screening.
