The thyrotropin-releasing hormone receptor (TRH1R) is a GPCR which binds the tripeptide thyrotropin releasing hormone. Thyrotropin-releasing hormone (TRH), also called thyrotropin-releasing factor (TRF) or thyroliberin, is a releasing hormone, produced by the hypothalamus, that stimulates the release of thyrotropin (thyroid-stimulating hormone or TSH) and prolactin from the anterior pituitary. It is a tropic, tripeptidal hormone. The TRH test is the clinical use of TRH by intravenous injection to check the response of the anterior pituitary gland. This is a diagnostic test of thyroid disorders such as secondary hypothyroidism and in acromegaly. TRH has also anti-depressant and anti-suicidal properties. HiTSeeker TRH Thyrotropin-Releasing Hormone Receptor Cell Line from Innoprot allows the measurement of the activity and potency of ligands; such as recombinant human TRH.
