CRF2 is the gene that encodes a protein also known as CRHR-2. The CRF Receptor family is a group of G-coupled receptors that shows high affinity for CRH. CRH is a polypeptide hormone and neurotransmitter synthesized in the hypothalamus that is the principal neuroregulator of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenocortical axis. CRH plays an important role in the stress response and the stimulation of the pituitary synthesis of ACTH (Adrenocorticotropic hormone). Green Fluorescent CRF2 Receptor Cell Line allows the measurement of the activity of ligands; such as CRF.
