Prostaglandin receptors or prostanoid receptors represent a sub-class of cell surface membrane receptors. Prostaglandins are a group of lipid compounds that participate in a wide range of body functions. EP1 Prostanoid Receptor, which belongs to the G protein-coupled receptor familiy, is one of four receptors which bind with and mediate cellular responses principally to prostaglandin E2) (PGE2). EP1 Receptor generally binds to PGE2 with lesser affinity and responsiveness to certain other prostanoids. This receptor plays roles in mediating algesia and in regulation of blood pressure and also may mediate adrenocorticotropic hormone response to bacterial endotoxin. HiTSeeker EP1 Prostanoid Receptor Cell Line from Innoprot allows the measurement of the activity and potency of ligands; such as PGE2.
