Prostaglandin receptors or prostanoid receptors represent a sub-class of cell surface membrane receptors. Prostaglandins are a group of lipid compounds that participate in a wide range of body functions. EP4 Prostanoid Receptor, which belongs to the G protein-coupled receptor familiy, is one of four receptors which bind with and mediate cellular responses principally to prostaglandin E2) (PGE2). EP4 Receptor generally binds to PGE2 with lesser affinity and responsiveness to certain other prostanoids. In humans, mRNA for EP4 is present in several organs and tissues, such as heart and small intestine and to lesser extents in lung, kidney, thymus, uterus, dorsal root ganglions, and brain. HiTSeeker EP2 Prostanoid Receptor Cell Line from Innoprot allows the measurement of the activity and potency of ligands; such as PGE2.
