Immortalized Human Colonic Fibroblasts (IM-HCoF) provided by Innoprot have been developed by immortalizing primary human healthy colonic fibroblasts with SV40 Large T antigen.

Immortalized cells were controlled passaging side by side with the primary cells. Primary cells go into senescence after the 4th passage while the SV40‐tranduced cells go beyond 30 passages.

Each vial of Immortalized Human Colonic Fibroblasts contains more than 1 million viable cells. Innoprot also offers optimized medium and reagents for the growth of IM-HCoF which are quality tested together and guaranteed to give maximum performance as a global solution for in vitro IM-HCoF culture.

Fibroblasts, are mesenchymal cells from the embryonic mesoderm. Fibroblasts secrete a non-rigid extracellular matrix that is both rich in type I and/or type III collagen. They are responsible of the synthesis of extracellular matrix in connective tissues and play a central role in wound healing. They are useful tools for a wide range of cellular and molecular studies, as they are one of the easiest types of cells to grow in culture. In addition, their durability makes them amenable to a variety of manipulations ranging from gene transfection to microinjection. Human Colonic Fibroblasts are an excellent tools to study the colonic physiology and also the mechanisms of colon carcinogenesis. Immortalized Human Colonic Fibroblasts are useful tools to understand the highly integrated balance between proliferation, differentiation, and cell death. Immortalized Human Colonic Fibroblasts allow to stablish in vitro models for High Throughput and High Content Screening.
