Neurite Outgrowth & Mitosis Assay Cell Line (TagGFP2‐Tubulin SH‐SY5Y Cell line) allows the analysis of neurites while monitoring the cellular mitosis level through microtubule structural changes. It consists in SH-SY5Y cell line stably expressing green fluorescent tubulin marking the cell cytoskeleton and it can be easly differentiated using standardized protocols to promote the neurite outgrowth.

Innoprot offers this assay as a “stable cell line” in cryopreserved vials. Each vial of SH-SY5Y cell line stably expressing TagGFP2-tubulin contains 3 million cells. It is guaranteed that these cells will expand in more than 30 passages following the cell culture manual.

Neurite outgrowth is a key process during neurogenesis. During development, neurons extend numerous processes that differentiate into dendrites and axons. These processes, also termed neurites, are critical for communication between neurons.  The initiation of neurite protrusion and subsequent elongation involves complex intracellular signaling. Neurites are particularly interesting in relation to neuropathological disorders, neuronal injury/regeneration, and neuropharmacologic research and screening. Measurement of neurite outgrowth using an automated image-based assay can be of use in the research; screening and validation phases of the drug discovery process.
