Immortalized Human Preadipocytes (IM-HPAd) provided by Innoprot have been developed by immortalizing primary human preadipocytes with SV40 Large T antigen.

Immortalized cells were controlled passaging side by side with the primary cells. Primary cells go into senescence after the 5th passage while the SV40‐tranduced cells go beyond 30 passages.

Each vial of Immortalized Human Preadipocytes contains more than 1 million viable cells. Innoprot also offers optimized medium and reagents for the growth of IM-HPAd which are quality tested together and guaranteed to give maximum performance as a global solution for in vitro IM-HPAd culture.

Adipocytes play an important role in energy storage and metabolism. Adipocyte differentiation is a developmental process that is critical for metabolic homeostasis and nutrient signaling. Complex actions such as gene expression and signal transduction control differentiation process. Human Preadipocytes are present throughout adult life in adipose tissue and can proliferate and differentiate into mature adipocytes. They contribute to increased adipose tissue mass. In vitro studies indicate that various tissue-derived preadipocytes exhibit different lipid accumulations, adipogenic transcription factor expression, and TNFα-induced apoptosis. There is also a close relationship between adipocyte differentiation and many physiological and pathological processes including fat metabolism, obesity, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, and breast cancer. Immortalized Human Preadipocytes are also useful tools to stablish in vitro disease models for High Throughput and High Content Screening.
