Immortalized Human Renal Glomerular Endothelial Cells (IM-HRGEC) provided by Innoprot have been developed by immortalizing primary human renal glomerular endothelial cells with SV40 Large T antigen.

Immortalized cells were controlled passaging side by side with the primary cells. Primary cells go into senescence after the 5th passage while the SV40‐tranduced cells go beyond 30 passages. This immortalized cell line has been characterized by CD31 and VWF expression and tubule formation.

Each vial of Immortalized Human Renal Glomerular Endothelial Cells contains more than 1 million viable cells. Innoprot also offers optimized medium and reagents for the growth of IM-HRGEC which are quality tested together and guaranteed to give maximum performance as a global solution for in vitro IM-HRGEC culture.

Human Renal Glomerular Endothelial Cells (HRGEC) are a specialized microvascular cell type with functions in the regulation of glomerular ultrafiltration. They form the inner part of the filtration barrier and play roles in pathophysiological processes in the glomerulum. HRGEC constitutively produce bio-active molecules, which can be amplified by inflammatory and thrombotic molecules. Endothelial cell injury due to a severe glomerular lesion can inhibit angiogenesis and result in sclerosis at the injured site. HRGEC injury affects mesangial and epithelial cells and leads to the progression of renal disease. The biological properties of HRGEC remain largely unknown because of difficulties associated with the culturing, cloning and propagation of these cells. Immortalized Human Renal Glomerular Endothelial Cells are useful tools to stablish in vitro disease models for High Throughput and High Content Screening.
