Porcine Müller Cells (PMuC) provided by Innoprot are isolated from porcine retinal pigment. PMuC are cryopreserved at passage one and delivered frozen. Each vial of Porcine Müller Cells contains more than 500.000 or 1 million viable cells. They are guaranteed to further expand for 5 population doublings following the instructions provided in the technical sheet.

Innoprot also offers optimized medium and reagents for the growth of Porcine Müller Cells which are quality tested together and guaranteed to give maximum performance as a global solution for in vitro PMuC culture.

Müller cells are the principal glial cells of the retina and play a central role in maintaining retinal homeostasis, providing metabolic and structural support to neurons, regulating ion and water balance, modulating synaptic activity, and contributing to the integrity of the blood–retinal barrier. Primary porcine Müller cells retain characteristic morphological and molecular features, including expression of glial markers. Their physiological relevance and close similarity to human retinal biology make them a valuable in vitro model for retinal research, disease modeling, neuroglial interaction studies, and evaluation of therapeutic strategies targeting retinal dysfunction.
