Red Fluorescent MDA-MB-231 Cell Line

Red Fluorescent MDA-MB-231 Cell Line (aka VAMPIRO MDA-MB-231) has been developed through stable transfection of MDA-MB-231 cell line with tFP602. This cell line expresses red fluorescent protein gene sequences as free cytoplasmatic proteins. Each vial of cells contains more than 3 million viable cells stably expressing tFP602 with puromycin resistance gene:

VAMPIRO MDA-MB-231 Cell line is ready to use in cell-based assay applications. This stably transfected clonal cell line provides consistent levels of expression, which helps simplify the interpretation of results. Red Fluorescent MDA-MB-231 Cell Line also allows to stablish in vitro models for HIgh Throughput and High Content Screening.

About MDA-MB-231 Cell line:

The MDA-MB-231 breast adenocarcinoma cell line comes from a Caucasian female, 51 yeas of age. With epithelial-like morphology, the MDA-MB-231 breast cancer cells appear phenotypically as spindle shaped cells. In vitro, the MDA-MB-231 cell line grows in monolayer and it has an invasive phenotype. This cell line has abundant activity in both the Boyden chamber chemoinvasion and chemotaxis assay. The MDA-MB-231 cell line is also able to grow on agarose, an indicator of transformation and tumorigenicity, and displays a relatively high colony forming efficiency. In vivo, MDA-MB-231 cells form differentiated adenocarcinoma (Grade III) in nude mice.

About turboFP602 protein:

TurboFP602 protein is a red shifted variant of the red fluorescent protein TurboRFP from sea anemone Entacmaea quadricolor [Merzlyak et al., 2007]. It possesses true-red fluorescence (excitation/ emission max = 574/ 602 nm) that is optimal for detection via most popular filter sets. TurboFP602 exhibits fast maturation and also high pH stability. TurboFP602 is useful for applications where fast appearance of bright fluorescence is crucial. It is also useful for cell and organelle labeling and tracking the promoter activity
