Red Fluorescent SH-SY5Y Cell Line are suitable for both, in vitro and in vivo experimentation.
About SH-SY5Y Cell line:
SH-SY5Y is a clonal subline of the neuroepithelioma cell line SK-N-SH which comes from the bone marrow biopsy of a 4-year-old girl with metastatic neuroblastoma. They are epithelial- /neuronal-like cells growing as monolayer and in cell clusters. SH-SY5Y cells are dopamine beta hydroxylase active, acetylcholinergic, glutamatergic and also adenosinergic. The cells have very different growth phases and propagate via mitosis and differentiate by extending neurites to the surrounding area. Some treatments such as retinoic acid and BDNF can force the cells to dendrify and differentiate.
About turboFP602 protein:
TurboFP602 protein is a red shifted variant of the red fluorescent protein TurboRFP from sea anemone Entacmaea quadricolor [Merzlyak et al., 2007]. It possesses true-red fluorescence (excitation/ emission max = 574/ 602 nm) that is optimal for detection via most popular filter sets. TurboFP602 exhibits fast maturation and also high pH stability. TurboFP602 is useful for applications where fast appearance of bright fluorescence is crucial. It is also useful for cell and organelle labeling and tracking the promoter activity.
