MC4 Melanocortin Receptor Assay

MC4 Melanocortin Receptor Assay from Innoprot measures MC4R receptor activation using HTRF technology. MC4 Melanocortin Receptor signaling occurs via adenylate cyclase stimulation through trimeric Gs proteins, increasing cAMP, and downstream L-type calcium channel interaction. In this assay, we measure the receptor activation/inhibition by cAMP accumulation using HTRF technology. The high reproducibility of this assay allows monitoring MC4 Melanocortin Receptor activation process in High Throughput Screening.

MC4R binds adrenocorticotropic and α-melanocyte stimulating hormone (α-MSH) and plays important roles in a wide range of physiological functions; such as energy balance, metabolism regulation, feeding and sexual behaviour and erectile function. Mutations in its gene link with autosomal dominant obesity. It is mainly present in brain, placenta and intestinal tissue.
