Prostaglandin F receptor (FP) is a receptor belonging to the prostaglandin (PG) group of receptors. FP binds to and mediates the biological actions of Prostaglandin F2α (PGF2α). In humans, FP mRNA and/or protein is highly present in the uterine myometrium; throughout the eye and ovarian. FP receptor agonists, such as latanoprost, travoprost or bimatoprost, are drugs to treat glaucoma and other causes of intra-ocular hypertension. The FP receptor agonist, bimatoprost, in the form of an 0.03% ophthalmic solution termed Latisse, is an approved drug to treat hypotrichosis of the eyelashes; in particular to darken and lengthen eyelashes for cosmetic purposes. HiTSeeker FP Prostanoid Receptor Cell Line from Innoprot allows the measurement of the activity and potency of ligands; such as PGF2α.
