HiTSeeker are cell lines stably expressing label-free GPCRs, also known as seven-(pass)-transmembrane domain receptors. Each vial of HiTSeeker 5-HT2C Serotonin Receptor Cell Line contains U2OS cells stably expressing 5-HT2C Receptor with no tag. HiTSeeker Cell lines proliferate in vitro maintaining GPCR expression following the cell culture manual.

Innoprot HiTSeeker 5-HT2C Serotonin Receptor Cell Line allows to assay compounds, or analyze their capability to modulate 5-HT2C receptor. When a ligand binds to the 5-HT2C receptor, it activates a G protein, which in turn, triggers a cellular response mediated by calcium. HiTSeeker 5-HT2C Serotonin Receptor cell line has been validated measuring calcium concentration changes in the cytosol upon activation with 5-HT. The high reproducibility of this assay allows monitoring 5-HT2C Receptor activation process in High Throughput Screening.

The 5-HT2C receptor is a subtype of 5-HT receptor that binds the endogenous neurotransmitter serotonin (5-hydroxytryptamine, 5-HT). 5-HT2C receptors are present mainly in the choroid plexus, and in rats is also present in many other brain regions in high concentrations; including parts of the hippocampus, anterior olfactory nucleus, substantia nigra, several brainstem nuclei, amygdala, subthalamic nucleus and lateral habenula. 5-HT2C receptors are also present on epithelial cells lining the ventricles. Activation of this receptor by serotonin inhibits dopamine and norepinephrine release in certain areas of the brain. 5-HT2C receptors play roles regulating mood, anxiety, feeding, and reproductive behavior.
